SR 400 Express Lanes Project Named Proximo North American Transport Deal of the Year 2025
Atlanta, Ga. - The State Route (SR) 400 Express Lanes Project has been named the Proximo North American Transport Deal of the Year 2025, recognizing the innovative financing, collaborative approach, and Public-Private Partnership (P3) that are helping deliver one of the nation's most transformative transportation infrastructure projects.

The award recognizes the project's historic financing achievement including a $3.89 billion Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) loan through the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) - the largest federal loan ever awarded to a single borrower and the largest TIFIA loan in history.

This award also reflects the strong partnership between the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) and SR 400 Peach Partners-the consortium of Meridiam, ACCIONA, and ACS Infrastructure Development-as well as the many advisors, designers, contractors, public agency partners, and stakeholders whose collaboration made this achievement possible. Together, these partners are advancing a project that will improve mobility, enhance travel reliability, strengthen regional connectivity, and support continued economic growth throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

The SR 400 Express Lanes Project will construct new express lanes in both directions along an approximately 16-mile section of SR 400 from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) North Springs Station (Exit 5C) in Fulton County to approximately 1 mile north of McFarland Parkway (Exit 12) in Forsyth County. Financial close for the project was reached in August 2025, marking the transition from procurement to construction. Construction activities are now underway throughout the project corridor, with the SR 400 Express Lanes anticipated to open to traffic in 2031.

The project is being delivered through a P3 between Georgia DOT, the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA), and SR 400 Peach Partners. Under the agreement, the developer will design, build, finance, operate, and maintain the lanes over a 55-year term. This approach allows Georgia to leverage private-sector expertise and investment to accelerate construction, reduce long-term costs, and bring innovative transportation solutions to the region.

This Proximo North American Transport Deal of the Year award underscores the project's national significance and highlights Georgia's leadership in delivering innovative transportation solutions that will benefit travelers for generations to come.
