Elmhurst, NY - NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst today announced the appointment of Robin Ulep, MD, as Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology and Co-Director of the hospital's Stroke Center. Dr. Ulep is a vascular neurologist with clinical expertise in acute stroke management, telestroke consultation, stroke prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery.

Dr. Ulep joins Elmhurst Hospital's nationally recognized stroke care team, which provides timely, coordinated, multidisciplinary care for patients experiencing stroke and supports patients and families throughout treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery. Elmhurst Hospital has been recognized by the American Heart Association and by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in the United States for the quality of its stroke care.

As Vice Chair of Neurology and Co-Director of the Stroke Center, Dr. Ulep will help lead clinical care, quality improvement, education, and program development for Elmhurst Hospital's stroke services. Her work will focus on strengthening timely access to evidence-based treatment, supporting prevention and recovery, and advancing care delivery for underserved communities.

Dr. Ulep takes a patient-centered, collaborative, and multidisciplinary approach to stroke management. In her outpatient clinic, she focuses on comprehensive preventive care and supports stroke patients and their caregivers through the rehabilitation and recovery process. She is also dedicated to providing and advocating for culturally responsive healthcare for patients and families.

Dr. Ulep received her ScB from Brown University and her MD from the University of Queensland. During her residency at the University of Virginia, her community advocacy and leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives were recognized with the University of Virginia Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health System Award. She was also one of 10 residents in the country selected for the American Academy of Neurology Enhanced Resident Leadership Program.

As a Vascular Neurology Fellow at Stanford University, Dr. Ulep was selected to participate in the Leadership Education in Advancing Diversity program. She is actively engaged in mentoring and educating medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers. She has published in multiple publications and presented nationally and internationally, including at the American Academy of Neurology and the International Stroke Conference.

Dr. Ulep's goal is to lead initiatives that improve healthcare delivery for underserved populations while expanding access to high-quality neurological care.
