Zaffer Sange Joins City of Atlanta as Part of Mayor Dickens' Executive Leadership Team
Sange will succeed Peter Aman as Chief Strategy Officer, who will leave the City at the end of the year
ATLANTA-The City of Atlanta announced that Zaffer Sange will join Mayor Andre Dickens' executive leadership team partnering with outgoing Chief Strategy Officer Peter Aman to provide continuity and ensure a smooth transition of leadership. Sange will succeed Peter Aman, who will depart at the end of the year after many years of distinguished service to the City.
Sange is a seasoned business executive with more than 25 years of experience steering multi-billion-dollar global enterprises, including Novelis, INEOS, and BP. His career spans enterprise-level Strategy, Operations, and Commercial leadership, where he has directed large-scale transformations and growth initiatives across the globe. Known for integrating people, processes, and performance, Sange has consistently strengthened execution, optimized operations, and developed high performing teams at every stage.

As Atlanta continues to grow as a global city and economic hub, the Chief Strategy Officer plays a critical role in advancing Mayor Andre Dickens' vision for an inclusive, opportunity-rich Atlanta. Sange's appointment underscores the City's commitment to bold, cross-sector solutions that deliver tangible benefits for residents.
Peter Aman will be leaving the City of at the end of 2025 after four years of supporting the Dicken's administration, having served as a pro-bono consultant to the transition team and then as both the first Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Atlanta Police Department and subsequently as the City's first Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). As CSO, he advanced the City's strategy and financial model, oversaw the US Army Corps of Engineers' work on the Atlanta Drinking Water Renewal and Replacement program, incorporated the Mayor's Water Advisory Group, accelerated upgrades to the RM Clayton Water Reclamation Plant, and improved APD Citizens Review Board processes, among other special projects.
"Peter's leadership has been vital to both APD and the City. At APD, he drove major successes in officer recruitment, faster E911 answer times, and improvements in strategy, technology, fleet, and operations," said Mayor Dickens. "After his departure, Peter will continue to sit on the Mayor's Water Advisory Group as well as continue his role supporting MARTA as a member of their newly formed MARTA advisory council.
