CFC Kicks Off 30th Anniversary Celebration with Event Featuring Author Michael Foley

The Center for Faith and Culture (CFC) at the University of St. Thomas kicked off its 30th Anniversary Celebration with a special event on September 26, generously hosted by Hector Villarreal and Patty Sturion, owners of LUCHO. Over 30 guests gathered for an evening of camaraderie, featuring a talk by Michael Foley, author of "Drinking with the Saints." Foley shared the inspiration behind his popular book, providing attendees with a unique blend of faith, culture, and humor.

The White Flame

The evening also included a selection of appetizers and a specially crafted cocktail, "The White Flame," created in honor of the Holy Spirit, which inspired Fr. Donald Nesti, CSSp, to establish the Center for Faith and Culture. The drink was also a tribute to Fr. Nesti's background as a Spiritan priest.

Guests in attendance included Father Nesti, Beth Wolf, Cheryl Byington, Patti and Don Murphy, Debbye Crofoot, Dr. Kevin Stuart, Cathi and Joe Garcia-Prats, Max and Angela Bonilla, Larry Blasam, Dr. Thomas and Catherine Harmon, Dr. Hesse, and several CFC alumni.

"What a fitting and delightful kickoff to mark 30 years of fostering dialogue between the Catholic tradition and American culture. Excitement is already building for the Faithful Citizenship Dinner in October. It's going to be really special," said Dr. Kevin Stuart, Director of the Center for Faith and Culture.
