U.S. Rep. James Walkinshaw (Va.-11) Tours Washington National ATCT (DCA)

Aug 7, 2026

U.S. Rep. James Walkinshaw (Va.-11) toured Washington National ATCT (DCA) on June 29, 2026. NATCA members Andrew Santorelli (DCA) and Zachary Dussault (DCA) led the facility tour.

As part of the engagement, Rep. Walkinshaw got an up-close look at both DCA's tower simulator and several tower positions. Discussion between Rep. Walkinshaw and NATCA members included pay parity, staffing levels, and air traffic controller scheduling. The group also talked about the downgrade of DCA to a level 9 facility from a level 10 facility, and how that may have an impact on the recruitment and retention of ATCs. Rep. Walkinshaw said he would remain engaged on issues important to aviation safety and NATCA members. NATCA thanks Rep. Walkinshaw for his support.
