Congressman Deluzio, Mt. Lebanon Leaders Celebrate Funding for Recreation Center Upgrades

MT. LEBANON, PA - Yesterday, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) and Mt. Lebanon leaders celebrated federal and state funds for important upgrades to the Recreation Center on Cedar Boulevard. The group touted how the investments will make life better for the community, and Congressman Deluzio presented the municipality with a ceremonial check for $850,000 in federal funding he secured. At an event next to the recreation center's ice rink, Congressman Deluzio was joined by Andrew Flynn, Mt. Lebanon Commission Vice President, State Representative-Elect Jen Mazzocco, staff from State Senator Wayne Fontana's office, and other local leaders.

"I'm proud that I secured $850,000 in federal funds to upgrade the Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center," said Congressman Deluzio. "This project will bring more opportunities to Lebo residents, especially kids and seniors. Congratulations to the folks in Mt. Lebanon leadership for earning this federal funding. I'll always fight down in Washington to bring home federal money to make life better for all of us in Western PA."

"The Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center opened in 1977 as a state-of-the-art facility so advanced, it was where the Pittsburgh Penguins practiced," says Municipal Manager Keith McGill. "In the years since it was built, we have looked more closely at ensuring accessibility so all our residents, visitors and staff can take full advantage of the recreation programs we offer. We are eternally grateful to Congressman Deluzio for securing the $850,000 grant from the federal Community Projects Fund and for another $100,000 from the Pennsylvania DCED Local Share Account, thanks to State Senator Wayne Fontana and Former State Representative Dan Miller."

This project will upgrade Mt. Lebanon's Recreation Center to connect currently isolated parts of the building with a new elevator and staircase. These accessibility updates will allow for residents of all abilities to easily access and use both floors of the facility-including classroom and community spaces on the second floor.

This $850,000 award to Mt. Lebanon was one of Congressman Deluzio's community funding project selections for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026. He secured more than $193 million for fourteen projects across his Western Pennsylvania district, earning the title as the U.S. House Democrat who secured the most funding for their district out of the FY 2026 spending bills. He is third out of all U.S. House Members-of which there are 435.

At the event, the group also celebrated $100,000 in state funds secured for the recreation center project. Congressman Deluzio wrote a letter of support for that funding request, as well.

Photos and video of the event are available to the press here.
