City Projects

24th Street, Ridgeview Drive to 21st Drive

Beginning February 16, the City of Yuma Public Works Department, along with its contractor, will perform work along 24th Street between Ridgeview Drive and 21st Drive to stage gravel and remove existing soil. Work will require lane restrictions. Motorists are advised to use caution, watch for crews and equipment, and follow all posted traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by late February.

28th Street, 45th Avenue to 33rd Drive

Staring January 20, a contractor working for the City will work on widening 28th Street between 45th Avenue to 33rd Drive. Road closures will be in place. Lane restrictions at the Avenue C and 28th Street intersection will also be in place. Please allow extra travel time and follow all traffic control signs. Work is expected to be completed by late February.

City Street Maintenance

City Street Maintenance operations for the week of February 15 - February 21 will take place in the following areas.

Street Asphalt Patching:

Las Casitas Subdivision.

Concrete Sidewalk Repair:

Falls Ranch 6 Subdivision.

900 Block of Avenue A.

1300 Block of 10th Street.

Streets Crack Seal Repairs:

Avenue 6E from 48th Street to 42nd Place.

Rio Colorado Estates.

Other utility projects and encroachment permits

24th Street, Avenue B (Segra)

Beginning February 23, Segra crews will conduct after-hours utility work at the intersection of 24th Street and Avenue B. Work will require lane closures. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by late February.

Avenue C, 24th Street to 22nd Lane (Private Contractor)

Beginning February 9, a private contractor will construct a property entrance along Avenue C between 24th Street and 22nd Lane. Work will require lane restrictions on the northbound lane of Avenue C. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by late March.

24th Street & 8th Avenue (Accurate Excavation)

Beginning January 28, Accurate Excavation crews will relocate an existing APS pole to a new pole location along 24th Street heading toward 8th Avenue. Work will require lane closure. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones and follow all posted traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by mid-February.

Main Street & Giss Parkway (Charter Communications)

Beginning February 23, Charter Communications crews will conduct underground fiber placement near Main Street and Giss Parkway. Work will require a lane closure. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones and follow all posted traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by late February.

Starting January 21, DPE Construction will work on widening 28th Street between 45th Avenue to 33rd Drive. Road closures will be in place. Avenue B, 8th Street to 12th Street (Private Contractor)

Beginning January 20, crews will conduct sewer work along Avenue B between 8th Street and 12th Street. Lane restrictions will be in place. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by early May.

4th Avenue, 32nd Street (CenturyLink)

Beginning January 6, CenturyLink crews will access manholes to perform utility work at 4th Avenue and 32nd Street. Work will require road closures with lane restrictions. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones and follow all posted traffic control. Work is expected to be completed by late March.

Routine Maintenance, Tree Trimming, and Survey Work (APS)

APS crews will be conducting routine maintenance, tree trimming, and survey work throughout the year in various locations within the City. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas and follow all posted traffic control.

Avenue 4E, 36th Street to 28th Street (Private Contractor)

Beginning December 2, a private contractor will install a sanitary sewer main and conduct sewer services along Avenue 4E between 36th Street to 28th Street. Work will require road closures with lane restrictions on 32nd Street. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is anticipated to be completed by late May.

Fiber optic installations (Allo)

Communications line installations are taking place in areas designated for utility easements in numerous and various locations within the City limits and surrounding vicinity. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas.

5th Street, 14th to 16th Avenue (Southwest Gas Corporation)

Starting December 22, Southwest Gas Corporation crews will be replacing has line on 5th Street between 14th Avenue to 16th Avenue. Work will prompt sidewalk closure and lane restrictions. Drivers are advised to follow traffic control. Work is anticipated to be completed by mid-February.
