The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that milling and resurfacing will be performed on Route 8 northbound in Watertown and Thomaston. The milling has already occurred which started on September 13 and completed September 22, 2026. The resurfacing of this project is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 11, and be completed on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This project includes the 3.42-mile segment of Route 8 northbound from .5 miles south of Reynolds Bridge overpass to the Exit 40 on-ramp.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures and delays. Traffic control signing patterns, portable impact attenuation systems and state police will guide motorists through the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday - Thursday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
