Now a plan is in place to install lighting around the facility so it can continue to be used at night. The track's namesake, UHart alumnus and member of the Board of Regents, Kevin Grant '82, M '86, is challenging the University community to help make it happen.
The "Let's Glow Together" giving challenge has a goal of 100 gifts by the end of November.
The Grant Family Track & Field features a 400-meter, eight-lane "full pour" track surrounding a new field tailored to field hockey, as well as an adjacent throwing area. Built to NCAA standards, the facility is an opportunity for the University-which this year completed its transition to NCAA Division III-to serve as a potential host for regional and national tournaments for both track and field and field hockey.
Anyone who submits a gift of $10 or more by the end of November will be sent an exclusive Grant Family Track & Field sticker commemorating the challenge.
