WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.R. 1526, the No Rogue Rulings Act. This legislation puts an end to the growing trend of activist judges blocking presidential actions with sweeping, nationwide rulings.
"A single district judge should not have the power to grind an entire administration to a halt," said Congressman Harrigan. "These nationwide injunctions are not about justice, they are about politics. They let one unelected official block policies that were voted for by millions of Americans. This bill puts an end to that abuse, restores the balance of power, and ensures the government can function the way our Constitution intended."
The No Rogue Rulings Act ensures that district court injunctions only apply to the parties involved in a case-preventing them from halting federal policies nationwide. If a case involves multiple states in different court circuits, it would go to a randomly selected three-judge panel, with a direct line to the Supreme Court for appeal.
Congressman Harrigan is calling on the Senate to pass the bill and end the abuse of power by activist judges who are undermining the constitutional role of the executive branch.
