Slygo Road Closed over I-24 Beginning Monday



WHAT: Weather permitting, crews will close the Slygo Road bridge over I-24 beginning Monday, February 23 to continue work on replacing the bridge. A detour will be utilized during the closure, which is expected to last up to nine months. Motorists should use caution in the work zone and watch for crews that could be working near the roadway.
WHEN: Beginning Monday, February 23 and lasting up to 270 days

DETOUR: To reach Slygo Road north of I-24, motorists will head south on Slygo road, turn left on Morganville Ridge Road, and travel east to State Route 58, where they will head north. From SR 58 traffic will turn west onto SR 299 before returning to Slygo Road.
  • Advisory: Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app. Our maintenance team members who repair roads and bridges and our project teams who oversee construction projects are continuing their essential work, while following sanitary work practices prescribed by health agencies to protect themselves and the public from the coronavirus, as are most state DOTs in the U.S.
