BOZEMAN - Montana State University's Office of Sustainability will co-host a panel discussion this week about maintaining landscape connectivity through wildlife crossings.
"Living up to the Montana Landscape" will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in Inspiration Hall on the MSU campus in Bozeman. The event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are requested.
The conversation will explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding wildlife crossings in Montana, with a focus on collaboration, shared values and the development of durable, statewide approaches that support both human safety and ecological resilience. Panelists will highlight the science and engineering behind wildlife crossings; human safety and economic benefits of reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions; and the role of collaboration across agencies, universities, non-governmental organizations and communities.
Panelists include Breanna Ball with the WYldlife Fund; Lee Spangler, director of the Western Transportation Institute at MSU; staff from the Montana Department of Transportation; and staff from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The panel will be moderated by Daniel Anderson, Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative's outreach specialist for wildlife passage.
In addition to MSU's sustainability office, the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative is co-hosting the event. More information is available at https://y2y.net/event/living-up-to-the-landscape-tour/.
