Robert Knowles, Jr., a Jesuit-educated insurance professional whose career has spanned 40-plus years, recently shared his experience and insights with students and faculty members at The University of Scranton.
Knowles, president of Scranton-based Knowles Insurance, was the featured speaker at an Oct. 21 luncheon held inside the DeNaples Center.
In addition to faculty members from the University's Department of Economics, Finance and International Business, the luncheon was attended by students from the campus chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, an international honor society for economics.
Drawing on his experience, which dates back to his education at Scranton Preparatory School and College of the Holy Cross, Knowles' presentation was interactive and he participated in a Q-&-A with attendees. He spoke about the importance for young people to know what - and who - they want to be in life and how they can give back.
Knowles is a board member of the University's Kania School of Management. He also serves as trustee and vice chairman at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation and has held roles at many other organizations in the Scranton community.
