Inseason Actions #26-#27 in Ocean Salmon Fisheries, South of Cape Falcon (Commercial & Recreational)

NOAA Fisheries has taken inseason action in the recreational and commercial salmon fishery south of Cape Falcon.

Inseason Action #26

  • Effective 12:01 a.m., May 1, 2026, through 11:59 p.m., May 15, 2026, the commercial troll fishery in the area from Humbug Mountain to the Oregon/California border (Oregon Klamath Management Zone) is closed.

Inseason Action #27

  • Effective 12:01 a.m., April 13, 2026, for the ocean salmon recreational fishery between Pigeon Point, CA and the U.S./Mexico border (Monterey management area), the area-specific harvest guideline is 21,800 Chinook salmon.
  • Effective 12:01 a.m. May 1, 2026, the ocean salmon commercial troll fishery from the Oregon/California border to latitude 40°10' N (California Klamath Management Zone) is closed.
  • Effective 12:01 a.m. May 7, 2026, through 11:59 p.m. May 8, 2026, and 12:01 a.m. May 14, 2026, through 11:59 p.m. May 15, 2026, the ocean salmon commercial troll fishery from Point Arena, CA to Pigeon Point, CA (San Francisco management area) is closed. For open dates and areas south of Point Arena, the harvest limit is 83,000 Chinook salmon. Landing limit of 160 Chinook salmon per vessel per open period, combined for management areas south of Point Arena. Possession limit of 160 Chinook salmon. All salmon caught in this area must be landed south of 40°10' lat. within 24 hours of any closure of the fishery.
