Mayor Garcia Launches Community Leader Challenge Coin Program

Mayor Michael J. Garcia is inviting residents to help recognize the everyday heroes who make Santa Fe a stronger, more connected community through the launch of the City of Santa Fe Community Leader Challenge Coin Program.

The program features a newly designed City Challenge Coin, created by the City's talented staff, to honor individuals whose leadership, service and compassion positively impact the community.

Beginning this month, Mayor Garcia will award up to 20 Community Leader Challenge Coins each month to residents who demonstrate exceptional community leadership. Honorees may include volunteers, mentors, neighborhood advocates, nonprofit leaders, first responders, educators, students or anyone whose actions make Santa Fe a better place to live.

"Some of our community's greatest leaders are the people who quietly serve others without expecting recognition," said Mayor Michael J. Garcia. "Whether they're mentoring a young person, volunteering their time, helping a neighbor in need or simply showing kindness when it matters most, these individuals embody the spirit of Santa Fe. I encourage our community to help us celebrate these remarkable people by nominating someone who deserves to be recognized."

Community members are encouraged to submit nominations by emailing [email protected] with the nominee's name and a brief description of how they have demonstrated community leadership or made a positive difference in the lives of others.

The Mayor's Office will review nominations on an ongoing basis, with up to 20 Challenge Coins awarded each month.

"The strength of Santa Fe has always come from the people who step forward to serve their neighbors," Garcia said. "This program is an opportunity to thank those individuals and inspire others to continue building a community rooted in kindness, service and leadership."
