Hamblin Avenue closure starts May 4 in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Starting Monday, May 4, Hamblin Avenue will be closed between Kendall Street and McCamly Street in Battle Creek while the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and contractor C. A. Hull demolish the M-89 (Washington Avenue) bridge over the Battle Creek River for rebuilding.

The closure is expected to last through Monday, June 1. A detour will be posted on Kendall Street, Michigan Avenue and Hamblin Avenue.

The $7.6 million investment includes bridge rebuilding and repairs, approach replacement, drainage improvements, guardrail replacement, signal work, water main relocation and pavement markings.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 64 jobs.
