Labor Stoppage Affecting Trash Service

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - The City's franchise trash hauler, Republic Services, has notified the City of a labor stoppage that will affect trash collection. The sympathy strike affecting Southern California is part of a nationwide action in support of striking Teamsters in Boston. This action is unrelated to the City of Inglewood or its contract with Republic Services, rather, it is a gesture of solidarity by local Republic Services employees with their fellow union members.

Republic Services has sent out the following notification to the City's businesses and residents:

"We want to inform you that due to a labor stoppage beyond our control there will be delays in trash collection services in your area. Republic Services is actively negotiating with their union members in Boston to resolve this situation and restore normal services as quickly as possible in your area.

At this time, we do not have a confirmed timetable for when service will return to normal, but please know that our team is doing everything possible to minimize disruption and to prioritize essential collection services throughout the community.

For residential customers, we would recommend leaving carts curbside as we will be collecting on a limited capacity basis."

Republic has assured the City that once the labor stoppage is lifted, they will provide additional resources from other Republic facilities to supplement their manpower to catch up on trash collection as quickly as possible. Street sweeping will continue as scheduled.

As an alternative, residents and businesses with proof of residency can drop off bagged trash at the following City location:

100 East Nutwood Street

Inglewood, CA 90301

Hours: 9a-3p

Date: July 15, 2025

Please follow on-site signage and instructions.
