KHNP, Westinghouse may cooperate in Dukovany - Korean President

Prague, Sept 19 (CTK) - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol did not rule out partial cooperation between South Korean company KHNP and the U.S. company Westinghouse in the construction of two new reactors in the Czech nuclear power plant Dukovany, he said at a press conference after his talks with Czech President Petr Pavel today.

Westinghouse and KHNP partly cooperated already on a project in the United Arab Emirates.

Two months ago, thew Czech government decided that the new units in Dukovany should be built by KHNP. Westinghouse and the French company EDF, which were also interested in the contract, challenged the tender before the Czech antitrust office UOHS.

The Czech President believes that the dispute will be resolved. However, he said the Czech Republic was also prepared for the possibility that this would not happen.
