Shania Twain Reflects On Moments That Shaped Her Before Her Global Fame In 'Deeply Personal Chapter'

Shania Twain kicked off the weekend with the deluxe edition of her seventh studio record on Friday (October 9).

Little Miss Twain - The Places I'll Go features six additional tracks, including a collaboration with acclaimed folk duo The Milk Carton Kids, according to a press release. The record "marked a significant and deeply personal chapter for Shania. After more than three decades as one of the most successful and influential artists in music, the global superstar turned back to the beginning, revisiting the experiences, sounds and memories that shaped her before the world knew her name." Twain reflected on her childhood and teen years in Canada as she worked on Little Miss Twain, which includes nods to her late mother (including a song featuring Country Music Hall of Fame member Tanya Tucker), and incorporates her influences in country, pop, rock, soul and other genres.

Twain's deluxe album arrives just a few days after she debuted the audio book edition of her memoir, From This Moment On. The book is titled after an iconic ballad that appeared on Come On Over, a historic record that will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027(the same year will mark 25 years since Twain released Up!).

"It's funny how two stories from your life can find their way back to each other at exactly the right time," Twain said on Friday morning. "I think I've mentioned before how I would need to live to 200 to do everything I dream of doing and yet I feel I've lived a thousand lives already. I'm going to re-release my biographical album 'Little Miss Twain - The Places I'll Go' with a few extra songs that fill in more of the gaps, and in the same week I'm going to launch the audiobook of my biography 'From This Moment On' then the story of my life up to Nashville is all laid bare! And as some of you already know… my story is not for the faint of heart!"

Twenty-one songs later, "I think you probably know me pretty well by now," she added. "It's been so much fun looking back at the girl I was before Nashville and remembering just how determined she was to get somewhere even if she had absolutely no idea where 'somewhere' was going to be. To everyone who has listened, shared your own stories with me or found a little piece of yourself somewhere in these songs, thank you."

"Little Miss Twain and those formative years of my life were just a distant private memory until recently and now it's a shared story," Twain said when the original 15-track album arrived over the summer. "The same as the album, it was mine and now 'Little Miss Twain' is ours! Please take a listen and see if it speaks to you. I'm full of anxiety and excitement at the response but even if you find one lyric that speaks to you or makes you feel something I'll be happy. The emotional journey on this album was a true rollercoaster and there were moments where I felt like I was sitting with my younger self while my mother looked over me. It was very painful at times, but telling some of these stories out loud was also incredibly healing, and then there was the fun and laughter... There are songs here that are also about good vibes, summer days and feeling good! Thank you for going into the next chapter with me - it's not easy to evolve as an artist and keep your people with you but you've been loyal and supportive through it all.

"This one means so much and now it's yours. Listen loud, from top to bottom, and come home with me to Northern Ontario, Canada ❤️"
