Overnight mill and overlay pavement maintenance scheduled for various Columbia streets, July 20-22

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, July 20, overnight mill and overlay pavement maintenance will take place on several Columbia streets. Work will be performed by Capital Paving, contractor for the City of Columbia Public Works department.

Crews will work nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. July 20-22 until all listed streets have been completed. Work is expected to begin on the listed streets that are outside the downtown area before moving downtown.

List of streets

  • Nebraska Avenue from North Seventh Street to North Providence Road
  • Big Bear Boulevard from Providence Road to the east end of the street
  • Watson Place from Elm Street to Woodson Way
  • South Fifth Street from Cherry Street to East Stewart Road
  • Sixth Street from Ash Street to Elm Street
  • Elm Street from South Sixth Street to South Ninth Street
Work hours and traffic impacts
Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance on streets where parking is permitted. Please do not park in signed areas during the dates and times listed on the signs.

Temporary lane closures will be necessary while work is underway. Traffic control signs and flaggers will guide motorists through work zones as needed. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution and consider alternate routes whenever possible.
