WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (Kan.) - chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) - today hosted federal, state and local law enforcement officials in Garden City for a roundtable to discuss the region's challenges related to organized crime, drug trafficking and human trafficking. During the roundtable, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced its commitment to increase the number of agents in their Garden City Post of Duty.
"Our Kansas law enforcement officers need the best tools and training in order to do their jobs and keep our communities safe," said Sen. Moran. "As the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee which funds the Department of Justice, FBI, DEA and ATF, my goal here today is to hear directly from officers and sheriffs how Congress can better support local law enforcement and to connect federal law enforcement with Kansas departments to work in a collaborative way to best serve the southwest part of the state."
