Grist Mill Exchange Selected for NATO DIANA Decision Superiority Challenge

Grist Mill Exchange, a Veteran Ventures Capital portfolio company, has been selected as one of ten innovators for NATO's Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) Decision Superiority for NATO Warfighters Challenge. The selection was made in cooperation with Allied Command Operations (ACO) and positions Grist Mill Exchange to demonstrate its commercial data infrastructure capabilities directly with NATO mission teams.

The Challenge

NATO DIANA's Decision Superiority challenge seeks to complement NATO's acquisition of Palantir's Maven Smart System - which uses AI to integrate data from all types of assets into a single decision-support platform - by identifying innovative companies that can enhance operational planning and execution through AI, machine learning, and software solutions.

The challenge was launched in April 2026 as an ad-hoc initiative, separate from DIANA's annual challenge calls, reflecting the urgency of the capability gap.

Grist Mill Exchange's Role

Grist Mill Exchange provides commercial data infrastructure that gives NATO mission teams access to 375+ vetted data providers - enabling faster, more informed decision-making by connecting warfighters with the commercial data they need for operational planning, intelligence preparation, and situational awareness.

Program Details

Each of the ten selected companies has been awarded EUR 100,000 in contractual funding to:

1. Engage directly with NATO stakeholders and operational end users
2. Integrate their solutions into a cloud environment
3. Demonstrate capabilities in a simulated, mission-relevant setting by December 2026

Successful demonstrations may lead to follow-on contracts through DIANA's Rapid Adoption Service.

The ten companies selected alongside Grist Mill Exchange include Decent Cybersecurity, ETE Technology, Flai, Hadean, Levato AS, Matrix Pro Sims, Onebrief, Picogrid, and Watchtower Labs.
