SES Introduces New Capabilities for State Agencies, Focus on Money Services Businesses Exams

A simple change in how to view and access information in the State Examination System (SES) can lead to increased satisfaction. The ability to export exam-related data for money services businesses into a customized template can generate excitement. That is some of the feedback state agency users expressed after a new round of SES updates were introduced in April.

These system updates were a result of changes state agency users requested during a "Fly-in" event held at CSBS last November. The gathering demonstrated their vested interest in SES − further driving Networked Supervision.

The latest system updates also reflect CSBS's commitment to continually developing technology products for state agencies that increase supervisory efficiency and effectiveness. The recent SES updates make it easier for state agencies to tap into the system for the examination efficiencies it provides.

Key SES updates:

• Improved system navigation.
• Option for state agency users to customize their homepage based on business activity type (e.g., mortgage, MSBs, consumer finance or all business types).
• Ability to import procedures completed outside the system into SES.
• Giving agencies with detailed level access the ability to view documents within an information request.
• Ensuring state agency team leads participating in multi-state exams confirm when an exam has been closed.
• Option to assign a single exam procedure to one or more individuals or state agencies.

Key update for state agencies that use SES to examine MSB companies:

Work completed in SES can now be exported into a template that matches the Money Transmitter Regulators Association (MTRA) Work Program file.

The MTRA has been instrumental in working with CSBS and state regulators to establish common exam standards and practices for conducting MSBs exams. The ability to export work completed in SES into an MTRA template is another step toward greater uniformity - a benefit to both state agencies and MSB companies being examined.
