Dentsply Sirona Implant Solutions World Summit 2026

More than 1,000 participants from 49 countries gathered in Gothenburg, Sweden for Dentsply Sirona's Implant Solutions World Summit 2026 to explore the latest scientific findings and emerging perspectives in implant dentistry. Discussions focused on digital workflows, immediate treatment and restoration concepts and regenerative therapies, as well as increasingly connected treatment approaches to integrate planning, surgery and prosthetic restoration.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. While implant design, implant surfaces, and long-term clinical outcomes remain important areas of research, the scientific conversation is increasingly broadening to include the entire treatment journey. At this year's Summit, experts explored how regenerative therapies, digital workflows, and integrated treatment approaches may contribute to more efficient clinical workflows and support predictable patient outcomes.

From evidence to clinical decision-making

A recurring theme throughout the Summit was how scientific evidence can inform clinical decision-making. Discussions addressed current data, clinical experience and practical ways of applying scientific evidence in everyday dentistry. One example was the panel "Connecting the Dots - Driving Efficiency and Enhancing Predictability for Clinical Success," in which renowned implant specialists from Europe and the United States explored how diagnostic information, treatment planning and clinical implementation can be more closely connected. Participants included Dr Serhat Aslan (Turkey), Dr Steve Campbell (UK), Dr Mischa Krebs (Germany), Dr Mark Ludlow (USA), and Dr Varisha Parikh (USA), with Dr Martin Wanendeya (UK) as session chair and moderator.

As dentistry becomes increasingly complex with more data and a greater need for collaboration among practices, labs, and specialist partners, connected dentistry offers an opportunity to fully leverage digital technologies and manage complexity by bringing everything and everyone together into one ecosystem. The Summit also showcased how connected dentistry is reshaping implant workflows. By connecting imaging, treatment planning, implant placement, restoration, and laboratory collaboration through an integrated digital ecosystem, Dentsply Sirona continues to support clinicians in delivering efficient, predictable care while reducing complexity throughout the treatment journey.

"One of the greatest strengths of this meeting is the opportunity to learn from colleagues with different experiences and perspectives. Science continues to evolve, and meetings like this help us translate new evidence into clinical practice," said Dr. Mischa Krebs from Germany. "The exchange of knowledge between clinicians, researchers, and industry is what ultimately benefits our patients."

For more than four decades, Dentsply Sirona has helped shape the evolution of implant dentistry through science, innovation, and collaboration with the global clinical community. Over 3,000 scientific publications feature products from the Dentsply Sirona implant portfolio, including Astra Tech Implant System, Ankylos, Xive, Atlantis, Simplant, OSSIX, Symbios and MIS products.[1] These publications represent more than 40,000 documented patients and over 125,000 documented implants. Dentsply Sirona is committed to advancing scientific knowledge and supporting clinical innovation through collaborative research. This commitment is reflected in its Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) Program, which supports independent research conducted by clinicians and universities around the world. The program currently backs over 170 active studies conducted across more than 25 countries.

Recognizing excellence in research

Progress in implant dentistry is driven by scientific research, clinical experience and the willingness to explore new approaches. Through the Stig Hansson Award, Dentsply Sirona recognizes outstanding achievements in innovation, research and clinical excellence in implant dentistry. The 2026 Stig Hansson Award was presented to the Department of Periodontology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The department was recognized for its outstanding research in implant therapy and peri-implantitis. Over three decades this work has significantly advanced the understanding of implant dentistry as both a technology and a clinical therapy. The collaboration between the department and Dentsply Sirona was also highlighted as an example of successful partnership between academia and industry. Named after Stig Hansson, a pioneer in the development of modern dental implants, the award includes a 10 000 USD donation made in the recipient's name to Smile Train, a cleft-care charity for children worldwide.
