With summer approaching, you may have heard the term "vegetation management" being passed around. What is "vegetation management," and how does it help keep you, your family, and property safe?
Vegetation management is one of the simplest ways to help reduce wildfire risk before fire season peaks. It involves maintaining the vegetation (like bushes, trees, etc.) around areas susceptible to fire. Clearing dead brush, trimming/maintaining overgrown vegetation, and creating a clear, defensible space around structures can help slow the spread of fire and improve emergency access for firefighters.
Additionally, propane tanks should maintain at least 10 feet of clearance from your home, and tree branches directly above driveways should maintain clearance for Vista Fire Rescue (VFR) fire engines to be able to promptly respond in cases of emergency.
