Lane expected to fully reopen by 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - For the safety of the traveling public, the driving (right) lane of eastbound Interstate 70 in Columbia is closed at St. Charles Road, mile marker 131, for emergency pavement repairs. Motorists should consider alternate routes or give themselves extra time to travel through this area as backups are expected.
Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation reduced eastbound I-70 to one lane Wednesday evening, Jan. 14, to make a temporary repair. Two lanes of traffic will be briefly restored Thursday afternoon, Jan. 15, during peak travel hours, before closing again around 6 p.m. Crews will then make permanent repairs to the pavement and anticipate having both lanes fully open by 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones. Buckle Up. Phone Down.
