WASHINGTON, D.C. - Equality California released the following statement from Executive Director Tony Hoang responding to President Trump's Executive Actions targeting LGBTQ+ Americans:

"On day one, President Trump is prioritizing divisive politics over addressing the issues that matter most to everyday Americans. Instead of focusing on lowering the costs of groceries and healthcare, the Trump Administration released a flurry of executive orders attacking LGBTQ+ people-resorting to the same hateful anti-LGBTQ+ attacks that we saw on the campaign trail-attacks that we know did not resonate with voters.

President Trump does not have the power to erase LGBTQ+ people or deny them the right to exist freely and safely. These executive actions will take time to be implemented administratively and legally-and may never be fully realized. We stand unwavering, ready to fight alongside our partners against any unjust and harmful action this administration may take toward our community."
