Creating a safe and welcoming environment for students and employees is a shared responsibility across the University of Alaska system. To help employees recognize and respond to incidents such as sexual harassment or assault, UA provides mandatory annual training and online resources through the UA Safe Title IX Training program. All UA employees must complete the training by October 31, 2025.
How to access training:
UA/UAA/UAS employees must access the training through Blackboard, while UAF employees should do so through Canvas.
The online course in Blackboard and Canvas is more applicable to Alaska and to our universities. It is based on the latest version of university policy and guided by Federal mandates.
What you need to know:
It is important to remember that inappropriate behavior not covered under Title IX will be addressed under other existing policies, and UA will continue to provide supportive measures and outreach to students and employees who request assistance. Additionally, Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex - including pregnancy, parenting and all related conditions - in education and in programs and activities that receive federal funding.
Online resources:
UA faculty and staff are reminded of their duties as responsible employees.University employees are required to report any sex or gender-based discrimination, including sexual assault and sexual harassment, they become aware of to their campus Title IX Coordinator within 24 hours.
