Facilitating Seamless Travel for Business: GBTA’s Contributes to the MDMS and SDBTR Impact Assessment

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) supports the European Commission's initiative to address market challenges in developing multimodal digital mobility services (MDMS) and a single digital booking and ticketing regulation (SDBTR).

Business travelers desire seamless integration of various transport options into a single ticket for efficiency and sustainability. GBTA believes EU regulation is necessary due to the current lack of readily available multimodal travel options despite strong demand. The primary issues to be addressed are the unclear conditions for combining and reselling mobility services and the lack of consistent emissions information. GBTA recommends the Commission focus on ensuring open access to transport data for MDMS platforms, providing harmonized GHG emissions data, ensuring neutral display of travel options for consumer choice, and guaranteeing passenger services through a "one-stop shop." These measures would empower business travelers to choose sustainable and efficient options, fostering a more sustainable and competitive travel sector.
