Fire restrictions end at Mojave National Preserve and Castle Mountains National Monument

BARSTOW, Calif. - Due to decreased fire danger, Mojave National Preserve and Castle Mountains National Monument are no longer under fire prevention orders.

The preserve and monument are reverting to their normal fire regulations.

• Fires are allowed only in preexisting fire rings and containers. Do not make new fire rings.
• Collecting firewood and kindling in the preserve are prohibited. Bring your own firewood.
• Fires need to be put out cold before leaving your campsite.
• Do not leave any fire unattended.
• A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood.
• Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
• No fires may be lit during windy conditions in Mojave National Preserve.
• Additional regulations apply; contact the park if additional information or clarification is needed.

The use of fireworks is always prohibited on all public lands including Mojave National Preserve and Castle Mountains National Monument per Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 2.38 (b) under the National Park Service.
