Deputy President of the PL SA on the role of artificial intelligence in local governments

Konrad Komornicki, Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, took part in a panel discussion on the role of artificial intelligence in public administration during the 11th European Local Government Congress in Mikołajki.

Konrad Komornicki took part in a debate entitled 'Artificial intelligence as a tool of the future for public authorities'. The discussion focused on the practical aspects of implementing AI-based solutions in local government units, including speeding up administrative procedures, data analysis and improving the quality of public services. It was emphasised that artificial intelligence will not replace civil servants, but it is becoming an important support in the performance of public tasks.

The panel, moderated by Paweł Jarosz from the Cracow University of Technology, was attended by representatives of the scientific, local government and expert communities from Poland and abroad. In addition to the Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, representatives of the research sector and local administration, among others, took the floor.

The topics of local government and the use of artificial intelligence in public administration are of particular importance to the Office. The Deputy President emphasised that the development of modern technologies must go hand in hand with respect for the right to personal data protection and building citizens' trust in digital public services. He reminded that when implementing AI, it is necessary to comply with principles such as lawfulness, fairness and accuracy of data.

The European Local Government Congress is one of the most important events dedicated to local government in Central and Eastern Europe. The forum provides a space for representatives of local administration, government, academia and business to debate the challenges facing local communities, including digital transformation, sustainable development and international cooperation. The event is organised by the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, also known for organising the Economic Forum.
