Mitsubishi Retrofits Kentucky Automotive Manufacturing Plant to Produce Heat Pump Components

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, a NASEO Affiliate member, has announced a $143.5 million investment to retrofit an automotive factory in Maysville, Kentucky to produce heat pump compressors. With operations scheduled to begin October 2027, the project is partially backed by economic assistance programs from the Commonwealth of Kentucky as well as a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains. Initial production capacity is estimated at one million compressors per year, which will help meet growing demand for energy-efficient and low-emissions heat pump solutions through domestic production.
