Toledo left-handed pitcher Hayden Frey was named as a Second-Team Freshman All-American by Baseball America.

The Troy, Ohio, native picked up his second Freshman All-American nod of the season, having also taken a second-team Freshman All-American honor from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Frey made 11 starts and 15 appearances last season, with a 6-4 record, a 3.79 ERA, a .234 opponent average and 65 strikeouts to 27 walks in 78.1 innings pitched. He pitched at least 7.0 innings four times and struck out at least eight batters three times. Frey's highlight performance was an April 25 start at Bowling Green, where he allowed just one hit in eight innings and struck out eight batters in a Rocket victory. Frey was then named the MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week for this performance.

The MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year earned Toledo the honor for the second-straight season, while also helping sweep the major MAC pitching awards, with Nathan Leininger taking MAC Pitcher of the Year. Frey was also a Second Team All-MAC selection.

Frey ranked fifth in the MAC in ERA, eighth in opponent batting average and 10th in innings pitched. His 65 strikeouts were part of a program-record 550 this season. Toledo pitching ranked 39th in the country with 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
