LAS VEGAS - The Bureau of Land Management invites the public to comment on a proposed direct sale of about 19 acres of public lands outside Las Vegas to the City of Henderson for development of affordable housing. The parcel is east of South Las Vegas Boulevard and south of East Larson Lane.

"The BLM has a long history of working with local communities to make public lands available for affordable housing where appropriate," said BLM Acting Director Bill Groffy. "We are happy to consider this proposal to support such efforts for the City of Henderson, which is in line with President Trump's direction to pursue actions that expand the housing supply and lower housing costs for the American people."

The proposed sale is being conducted under the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, which authorizes the Secretary of the Interior, in consultation with the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, to make certain public lands in Nevada available for affordable housing purposes at less than the appraised fair market value. Per BLM Nevada policy outlined in Instruction Memorandum NV-2025-007, the parcel will be offered at a reduced rate of $100 per acre, a non-market-based price intended to minimize land acquisition costs and facilitate construction of affordable housing.

A notice of realty action will publish in tomorrow's Federal Register. Written comments may be delivered to the BLM Las Vegas Field Office, ATTN: Assistant Field Manager, Division of Lands, 4701 North Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130. The comment period will close May 8, 2025.
