A First for Hawaiʻi: Queen’s Emergency Department Earns 2026 ENA Lantern Award

The Queen's Medical Center's Emergency Department has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Lantern Award, which recognizes exceptional innovation and evidence-based practice improvements with the goal of improving patient care and staff well-being.

Queen's is among 126 recipients, and the first and only hospital in Hawai'i to receive the award.

Each hospital was judged based on data submitted in various areas such as lowering the time it takes for stroke patients to receive care, improving patient wait times, and professional development for nurses.

"We are extremely pleased to be recognized as a Lantern Award recipient," said Linda Puu, The Queen's Health Systems Chief Nursing Executive. "This award signifies our commitment to providing high quality care to our patients, as well as supporting our nurses both personally and professionally. We are grateful to all of the caregivers in our Emergency Department who work tirelessly to ensure every patient is taken care of."
