The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Patrolman Stephen Harrigan Who Died in the Line of Duty 84 Years Ago

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Officer Stephen Harrigan who passed away 84 years ago today. Officer Harrigan died on Tuesday January 7, 1941, after being stricken with Pneumonia while working in rainy, winter weather.

Officer Harrigan was 39 years old at the time of his death, after serving the Department for 13 years. He left behind a grieving wife and child.

He was laid to rest at Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, MA. His name is forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
