Paint the Future: Palmdale Asks Residents to Weigh in on Public Art

PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale is launching a Public Art survey to gather community input for three future art installations. Residents are encouraged to participate to help develop public art that reflects the community's character, values and aspirations.

"Public art belongs to everyone, and we want our installations to represent the spirit and diversity of Palmdale," said Mayor Richard J. Loa. "This survey will help guide the artistic future of our City. By sharing your vision and preferences, you'll help create meaningful spaces to enrich our neighborhoods."

Residents have the opportunity to offer feedback on their preferred types of art and themes they would like to see at three upcoming installations at Pelona Vista Park, the roundabout at the Palmdale Transportation Center and the roundabouts on 10th Street East at the intersections of East Avenue Q-9 and East Avenue Q-12.

The selected artworks will support the City's goal of enhancing cultural representation and fostering the beauty of community through art.

"We're excited to hear directly from residents about what they want to see in their neighborhoods," said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. "Please take a few moments to share your thoughts and be part of making Palmdale even more vibrant.

Funding for these projects comes from the Public Art Fund, which uses fees collected from private developers to support the creation and installation of public art. The City aims to grow its reputation as a center of innovation, bolstered by its commitment to the arts that strengthen the community's identity.

The survey will run through May 26. For more information and to participate in the survey, visit www.CityofPalmdaleCA.gov/PublicArt.
