The City of Charleston is closely monitoring a coastal low pressure system expected to bring periods of rainfall to the area today. With high tide occurring at approximately 4:00 p.m., there is a potential for localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and during the evening commute.
While major impacts are not anticipated at this time, city officials are encouraging residents to remain aware of changing conditions and to use extra caution on the roads this afternoon.
Forecast & Conditions
According to the National Weather Service, 1 to 3 inches of rain are expected across the region, with locally higher amounts possible, particularly in downtown Charleston. Minor flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage or where heavy rain coincides with peak tide.
Travel during the late afternoon and evening may be affected, and drivers are advised to allow extra time and avoid flooded roadways.
