Today, NATCA celebrates the International Day of the Controller, an observance honoring the vital work done by air traffic controllers around the world to keep the global airspace operating safely and efficiently.
This year, International Day of the Controller marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers' Associations (IFATCA). NATCA is proud to be one of the 130 member organizations of IFATCA. When we work as a collective to find solutions and advocate for our profession, we enhance aviation safety across the globe.
American controllers operate the busiest and most complex airspace in the world. These hardworking professionals are vital to the U.S. economy and our modern way of life, and they deserve to be recognized for their work. IFATCA's theme for this year - "attract them, value them, keep them" - deeply resonates with our Union as we continue to advocate for solutions to address the ongoing staffing crisis, modernization efforts, and compensation for in our nation's air traffic control workforce.
"America's air traffic controllers are the backbone to the busiest, most complex system in the world. They move 45,000 flights, millions of passengers, and 61,000 tons of cargo every single day, said NATCA President Nick Daniels. "Their commitment to excellence should be recognized every day, but especially on International Day of the Controller." NATCA honors our members and thanks them for their unwavering commitment to aviation safety. Happy International Day of the Controller!
