Speaker Jon Burns Names Rep. Kimberly New to House Motor Vehicles Committee

ATLANTA - Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) today named State Representative Kimberly New (R-Villa Rica) to the House Motor Vehicles Committee.

"I'm honored to be appointed to the House Motor Vehicles Committee and grateful to Speaker Burns for this opportunity to serve our great state in this new capacity," said Rep. New. "As our transportation infrastructure continues to grow throughout the state, I look forward to working with Chairman Corbett and the entire committee to ensure that Georgia's roads remain safe and our motor vehicle laws serve all Georgians effectively."

The Motor Vehicles Committee deals with issues concerning driver's licenses, motor carrier laws and the uniform rules of the road. It also deals with laws pertaining to motor vehicle tags, their titles and registration.

Representative Kimberly New represents the citizens of House District 40, which includes portions of Douglas and Paulding counties. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves Vice Chair of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and as Secretary of the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Motor Vehicles and Natural Resources & Environment committees.
