What you need to know: The DMV Los Banos office is temporarily closed. Most customers can save a trip to the office and do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.

Sacramento - The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the Los Banos office at 814 West L St. has closed temporarily for mold remediation. A reopening date has not yet been determined.

Until the remediation is complete, customers can visit the following area offices:

• Turlock: 825 E. Monte Vista Ave. (35 miles from the Los Banos office)
• Merced: 1313 W. 12th St. (38 miles from the Los Banos office)
• Hollister (Only open on Tuesday and Thursday): 80 N. Sally St. (44 miles from the Los Banos office)
• Gilroy: 6984 Automall Parkway, Suite A (48 miles from the Los Banos office)

Before Going to a DMV Office - Try Online First

Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, such as eligible driver's license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn about options to complete DMV tasks.

Go Paperless - To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver's license renewal notices, sign in or create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to opt in.
