How to Register Support or Opposition on Legislation

January 14, 2026

Legislators will reconvene in Springfield for the first week of the Illinois House's 2026 Spring Session on January 20, 2026.

One important way for Illinois residents to show their support or opposition for a piece of legislation before the Illinois General Assembly is to file a witness slip. These slips are read into the official record and noted for members during committee hearings when legislation is presented.
