U.S. Senator Marshall Announces New Transportation Funding for City of Liberal

GARDEN CITY, KS - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. is pleased to announce up to $1.6 million in funding for the City of Liberal to plan and develop an additional grade separation for heavy truck traffic in downtown Liberal. Once finalized, the project will alleviate traffic and provide an alternative route for commercial vehicles, allowing smoother residential and pedestrian traffic through the community's downtown corridor.

"Liberal's agriculture-based economy brings dozens of heavy trucks through the community's downtown daily," said Senator Marshall. "This funding will assist the city in its efforts to develop an alternative truck route that will relieve congestion and make transit through the community's downtown safer for all drivers."

The funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant will be utilized for site surveys, environmental assessments, engineering plan reviews, project management planning and scheduling, and cost estimations.
