Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong Visits an Icelandic Yarn Mill

On February 25, Ambassador He Rulong visited Ístex, a yarn mill for Icelandic wool and met with its CEO Sigurður Sævar Gunnarsson.

Ambassador He said that the bilateral economic relations and trade between China and Iceland have grown ever closer in recent years, thanks to increased trade exchanges between the two countries. In 2025, China had become Iceland's second-largest trading partner. He highlighted that wool products, as signature Icelandic products, have become a popular choice among Chinese tourists. He encouraged Ístex to seize opportunities by enhancing its brand image and actively explore the Chinese markets.

Accompanied by Mr. Gunnarsson, Ambassador He toured the production facilities and observed the entire manufacturing process from wool washing and dyeing to finished products. After briefing on Ístex's history and its market performance, Mr. Gunnarsson expressed that he had long followed China's economic development and stood ready to start trading with China.
