Floods in Bolivia

The Government of Brazil deeply regrets the human casualties and material damage caused by the severe floods in recent days in the Santa Cruz department of Bolivia. As of December 16, 21 deaths have been reported, more than 30 people are missing and nearly 600 families have been affected by the floods.

Brazil expresses its condolences to the victims and their families and conveys its solidarity with the people and the government of Bolivia.

The Brazilian government also emphasizes that the climate emergency is intensifying extreme events and making disasters like this increasingly frequent, which highlights the urgent need for coordinated action by the international community.

Until now, Brazilian citizens have not been reported among the casualties. The Consulate-General of Brazil in Santa Cruz continues to monitor the situation and is available in the event of an emergency at +591 (7) 856.44.65 (mobile and WhatsApp).
