WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Consumer Federation of America (CFA) is pleased to announce that Karim D. Marshall, attorney and nationally recognized expert on environmental justice, climate resilience, and energy strategy, has joined the organization as its new Director of Climate and Energy Policy. Marshall brings nearly two decades of experience in environmental law, cross-sector partnership development, and government leadership, including senior roles at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Executive Office of the Mayor of Washington, D.C.
Marshall most recently served as Senior Advisor for Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights at the U.S. EPA, where he led major environmental justice and resiliency strategies, represented the United States before the United Nations and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and coordinated policy implementation across federal agencies. His work helped strengthen adaptive responses to climate impacts and expand community-centered environmental protections nationwide.
In his new role, Marshall will lead CFA's climate, energy, and environmental justice work through the lens of consumer protection, advancing policies to help lower consumer energy costs, expand equitable access to clean energy, and strengthen community resilience.
"I'm excited to continue the work of protecting vulnerable communities and our natural environment." said Karim D. Marshall, Director of Climate and Energy. "This is a pivotal time for the world and for Americans. The expertise and solutions CFA advances are necessary to ensure that all Americans can afford to live in health and dignity."
CFA encourages journalists covering climate, energy, consumer protection, and/or environmental justice, to reach out to discuss interviews, background briefings, or expert commentary.
