Your City at Work: From the Mayor's Desk

MAYOR'S UPDATES

  • AEDs: On Monday, I joined the "In a Heartbeat Foundation and Lucky Mother" initiative to announce the addition of five new and publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices across our city that empower bystanders to administer lifesaving treatment before emergency services arrive in the event of someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The five new AEDs can be found in the following locations:
    • Cummings/West Beach soccer fields
    • Frank Noto baseball field at West Beach
    • AITE soccer fields
    • Upper field at the Rippowam track and football field
    • Scofield Magnet soccer field

  • School Construction Updates: The June issue of the Operations Department's Building Excellence newsletter includes updates on many school construction projects happening throughout the district. Highlights include the groundbreaking at Westhill High School and the new indoor air quality project kicking off this summer at Newfield Elementary. Click here to read Building Excellence.     CITY NEWS

  • Juneteenth Celebration: Join us on Saturday for the Stamford Juneteenth Celebration from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Jackie Robinson Park

  • July 4th Fireworks: Stamford's July 4th Fireworks will take place on July 2nd at Cummings Parks. Sunset is scheduled for 8:31 pm, and the fireworks will begin between 8:31pm and 8:45 pm. The rain date is July 3rd.

  • Beach Permits: Beach permits are now available for purchase online, by mail, or in person at the Cashiering and Permitting Department. Residents are encouraged to buy their permits early rather than wait until beach season! Permits are required beginning on May 1st through September 30th. Click here to purchase.
  • Apply for a Special Events Permit: To reserve a pavilion or host events at city parks click here.

    RESOURCES FOR RESIDENTS

  • Boards and Commissions: Are you a Stamford resident interested in serving on a City Board or Commission? Click here to learn more about serving.
  • Walk In Permitting: Walk-in Permitting occurs weekly every Wednesday from 8:30 - 10:30 am. Walk-in permitting sessions take place on the 7th floor of the Stamford Government Center. For more information, visit here.

Employment Opportunities in the City

Traffic

  • Eversource Cable Modernization Project: Eversource has started construction to replace two of its underground cables from 1968. To learn more and sign up for construction updates visit here.
  • Old Long Ridge Road Bridge: After a visual inspection of the Old Long Ridge Road Bridge, just south of Hunting Ridge Road, city engineers have implemented a temporary one-way traffic pattern, effective immediately. The City will share further updates as they become available.
  • Mill Road Bridge: The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge Road is open to one lane vehicular traffic. Residents can click here for updates.
