From January 19 to 21, 2025, Special Envoy Zhai Jun of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and met respectively with Member of the Cabinet and Minister of State for International Cooperation of the UAE Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy and Minister of State Khalifa Bin Shaheen Almarar. They had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and regional situation.

The UAE side said that thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, the UAE and China have established an outstanding and unique comprehensive strategic partnership, and the UAE is willing to further deepen and expand cooperation with China in various fields. The UAE welcomes the agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and hopes that the agreement will be effectively implemented to achieve a lasting ceasefire and cool down the situation in the Middle East. The international community should work together to formulate a clear and binding roadmap for the implementation of the two-State solution and promote an early settlement of the Palestinian question. China has an important influence on regional affairs, and the UAE expects China to play a greater role in resolving regional hotspot issues.

Zhai Jun said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, China-UAE relations have made great progress, setting a good example for China's relations with other developing countries. China is ready to work with the UAE to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state and continuously push for new development of China-UAE relations. China welcomes the ceasefire in Gaza. All parties concerned should earnestly implement the ceasefire agreement and realize a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The tragedy of the Gaza conflict should not be repeated, and the only realistic way to end the cycle of conflict between Palestine and Israel lies in the implementation of the two-State solution. China is ready to work with the international community to bring the Palestinian question back to the right track of political settlement and achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement at an early date on the basis of the two-State solution.
