Gordon Duguid presents lecture on trends in U.S. foreign relations, November 9

Illinois State University is pleased to host Donald F. McHenry Visiting Professor in Diplomacy and International Affairs Gordon Duguid for a lecture sponsored by the Adlai E. Stevenson Memorial Lecture Series.

Duguid will present a lecture on trends in U.S. foreign relations.

Gordon Duguid is the Donald F. McHenry Visiting Professor in Diplomacy and International Relations at Illinois State University. He taught previously at the George Washington University, the United States National Intelligence University, and United States Foreign Service Institute.

From 1990-2020, Duguid served in U.S. Foreign Service as Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy to Montenegro, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy to Serbia, Deputy Spokesman of the Department of State, as well as Senior Advisor on Bosnia. He served in public diplomacy positions at the U.S. Mission to NATO and U.S. Embassies in India, Burundi, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was also seconded to the Organization of American States to work on counter-terrorism initiatives.

Duguid received a bachelor's degree in history from Illinois State University and a master's degree in American Studies from the University of London. He is the author of Counter Narrative, a novel about the U.S. Foreign Service.
