SEMO Ranked in U.S. News 2025 Best Online Programs

Southeast Missouri State University's online programs have once again earned national recognition, securing multiple spots in the prestigious 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Programs rankings. The rankings evaluate more than 1,800 online degree programs across the country, highlighting institutions that provide students with flexible and high-quality education options.

SEMO Online was ranked #169 for overall Best Online Bachelor's Program. SEMO was ranked #91 for Best Online Bachelor's Programs for Veterans showcasing the work the University's Office of Veterans & Military Service does with students.

SEMO's criminal justice program achieved an impressive #48 ranking in Best Online Master's in Criminal Justice Programs, making it the highest ranking online criminal justice graduate program in Missouri.


SEMO's business programs made the list multiple times, including at #104 for Best Online Bachelor's Program in Business and for Best Online Master's in Business Programs, climbing 20 spots in the rankings to #114.

With a long history of recognition for its quality education programs, SEMO was named a Best Online Master's Program in Education at #133 in the rankings.

"We are excited to see SEMO Online's programs continue to be recognized among the best in the nation," said SEMO President Dr. Carlos Vargas. "These rankings reflect the dedication of our faculty and staff, who are committed to providing a high-quality, flexible learning experience that meets the needs of our students as well as the strategic investments we have made to grow and enhance our programs."

SEMO Online's programs provide a range of options for students, including 19 bachelor's degrees, 22 master's degrees, and numerous certificates and minors-all available fully online. The University's ongoing success in the rankings is a testament to its commitment to excellence in higher education.
